As I discovered, Zecco is really not up to the mark and I was looking for alternatives.

When I looked around, I found one broker getting consistently high praise from their customers. The broker was ThinkOrSwim aka TOS . I decided to check them out. Initial impression of their site was great. Site looked clean and their sign up process was completely painless. Even though sign up forms were clear, I still made a mistake and I wasn’t sure what to do next. I thought this was a great chance to evaluate their customer support. As I hate talking to support people on phone, I tried the ‘Live Support Chat’ option on their site. Not only I was able to chat with a support personnel right away, the support person resolved my doubt and I successfully completed the sign up.

ThinkOrSwim Signup Process

There were two more steps pending. 1. Faxing some documents to TOS. 2. Funding my account. These 2 steps can take anywhere from 7 to 10 days and in the meantime TOS lets you log-in to their site and use their trading platform using paper money! As I still need to horn my chart reading skills, I tried out their trading platform and started studying charts. They have their own chart module as well as charts by Prophet. Prophet provides one of the leading technical analysis tools and it was nice to be able to use them as part of TOS account.

So far, TOS has been very impressive. I have yet to do actual trades and I will let you about my experience doing actual trading with them.
