The first step before I can start trading? Obviously, I would need a brokerage account.
You might have seen Zecco ads where they publish 0$ trades. It’s a very attractive proposition. For some reason, I had opened a Zecco account last year and I thought let me try to use it. How was my experience with Zecco? One word, horrible. Here’s why Zecco sucks:
- Horrible and sluggish UI. No logical grouping of content. Horrible typography. And it takes 7 takes to load!

- Non existing support. I had opened my Zecco account almost 6 months back, but never used it. When I tried to place my trade, I got error message ‘Only orders that liquidate positions are allowed’. Confused, I emailed Zecco Support on Sep 18th. Even though they guarantee a response within 24 hours, I got reply from them on 23rd September, full 5 days after my query. And even then, the reply was not clear. It said ‘Your account is not active and you should be able to place trade order online.’ Huh? I guess he probably wanted to type ‘Your account is NOW active‘. Anyhow, they completely lost my trust. Here’s the email exchange:

Horrible Zecco Support
And let me assure you mine is not an isolated case. If you visit Zecco forums, you would find tons of customers facing the exact same problems and some.
- Advertisements. I don’t know about you but I don’t feel comfortable with the fact that my brokerage firm needs advertisements to make money.
Zecco, even with their free trades, is simply not worth your time. So which broker did I choose? Stay tuned to find out.
