Co-relation Calculator Updated

October 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment · General

It’s been less than day and I have updated Co-relation calculator. Mainly because JV thought that overall percentage might not be giving the best picture. He was wondering how the data will look if we break it down. How many times a stock mirrored the green movement? The red movement? And how many times it didn’t follow the index?

So I modified the program and now I show the individual break down instead of giving only overall percentage, it shows you what is the % of stocks matching the green movement or red movement.

Also, I discovered a bug in the program while calculating the co-relation factor. [It has to do with the fact that Yahoo! Finance's month number runs from 0 to 11 and not from 1 to 12.] Anyway, I fixed that as well. Suddenly data looks much better. ABK has followed XLF 80% of the time in September and October. ABK followed DJI only 60% of the time. Look at the screenshots:

ABK - DJI Corelation

ABK - DJI Co-relation

Here’s the Corelation Calculator 1.1, download and let me know your feedback.

Happy Trading!

that is freaking awesome. The ABK/DJI 70% on red is a nice indicator that got lost when they are all mixed together. Very nice! I have a new toy now, will play with it a lot!
